The best sounding movies of 2010 are "Black Swan," "Inception," "Shutter Island," "The Social Network" and "True Grit."
That's the judgment of the Cinema Audio Society, a non-profit organization of sound professionals that honors the best achievements in sound mixing each year.
Last year's feature film winner, "The Hurt Locker," went on to win both sound awards at the Oscars.
CAS selected nominees in five categories: one for feature film, three for television and one for original DVD programming. Television Series nominees include "Boardwalk Empire," "Glee" and "24" – while in the Television Movies and Mini-Series category, four different episodes of HBO's "The Pacific" (left) are competing against each other, along with the film "Temple Grandin."
The awards will be handed out on February 19 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. At the event, the CAS Career Achievement Award will go to sound mixer Jeffrey S. Wexler, while the CAS Filmmaker Award will be presented to director Taylor Hackford.
