Chuck Lorre‘s pot comedy “Disjointed” has landed a 20-episode series order at Netflix, with Kathy Bates set to star.
Bates plays a lifelong advocate for marijuana legalization who’s finally living her dream as the owner of an L.A.-area cannabis dispensary.
Joining her are three “budtenders,” her twentysomething son and a deeply troubled security guard. All of them are more or less constantly high.
The series, from Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Television, was co-written and executive produced by Lorre and David Javerbaum.
Bates, whose most recent credits include “American Horror Story: Coven” and “American Horror Story: Hotel,” won an Emmy for her last collaboration with Lorre, a guest role on CBS’ “Two and a Half Men” in 2012.
Lorre is also responsible for sitcom hits such as “Cybill,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “Mom.”
Bates is represented by ICM Partners.
