Chrissy Teigen slammed the media and its writers in a series of tweets Wednesday, blaming them for blowing up jokes and making them into a “freaking thing.”
“So many writers no longer have to actually think to write articles,” she tweeted. “They just pull tweets and Instagrams and call it a day.”
Another tweet read, “no one is allowed to joke anymore, no one can have fun, or say what they think. It gets blown up into a ‘beef’ or a demand for apology.”
The “Lip Sync Battle” color commentator said that the current state of media policing makes her not want to say things out of fear it will get twisted into something that it’s not.
However, Teigen has not shied away from posting her opinions on her social media accounts before. In November, she drew Twitter wrath for voicing her support for Planned Parenthood, and shortly after, she called Donald Trump a “twat.” In 2014, she received death threats after she tweeted her views about gun control after the Ottawa shooting.
“I miss being able to joke and interact freely without it being a freaking ‘thing,’” she continued. “But such is life.”
And Teigen foresaw that her series of tweets would be construed as “another ‘rant’” by the media.
