Chris Pratt Added to Sony’s ‘Moneyball’

“Parks and Rec” actor will play former A’s first baseman Scott Hatteberg

Chris Pratt has been added to the cast of Sony's long-gestating pro-baseball film "Moneyball," playing former Oakland A's first baseman Scott Hatteberg, the actor's reps announced Monday.

Pratt, who stars in the NBC Thursday-night comedy "Parks and Recreation," joins a cast that already includes Brad PItt, Robyn Wright, Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

"Moneyball" is based on Michael Lewis' 2003 nonficiton book about Oakland A's general manager Bill Beane, who consistently built pennant-contending teams based on innovative metrics and not enormous salaries.

Bennett Miller is now directing "Moneyball," which was revived at Sony after Steven Soderbergh departed from the project.

The film is being produced by Scott Rudin and Michael DeLuca, and written by Steve Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin.

Pratt just completed work on the Fox comedy "What's Your Number" alongside Anna Faris and Chris Evans.

He'll also be seen in Universal's "Young Americans" with Faris and Topher Grace, which is due out in January.
