A pair of MSNBC hosts didn’t see eye-to-eye this morning when “Hardball” anchor Chris Matthews visited “Morning Joe” to discuss last night’s New Hampshire primary, and gave a not favorable assessment of Ted Cruz.
“There’s a troll-like quality to Cruz. He operates below the level of human life,” Matthews said.
“Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough interrupted: “OK, Chris, that’s a little tough. You have not gotten sleep. We’re going to try that again.”
Matthews then asked: “Am I allowed to have an opinion?”
“Well, but not that opinion,” Scarborough said. “No, you’re not allowed to have that – You cannot have that opinion.”
Matthews then clarified that he believes Cruz “appeals to people’s negativity rather than their joy.”
“There’s something about that guy — who’s always reminded me of Joe McCarthy — and there’s something about him that is negative and menacing. … So when I say below the level of human life, I mean the good nature of human life, not just being a person,” Matthews said.
