Chris Hemsworth Heads to Afghanistan in New ’12 Strong’ Trailer (Video)

“The most important thing a man can take into combat is a reason why”

Chris Hemsworth leads the first U.S. troops sent to Afghanistan after 9/11 in the latest trailer for “12 Strong.”

The film is based on the true story of 12 U.S. Special Forces troops who adapted to Afghani horse soldier tactics to fight the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies. The movie is based on Doug Stanton’s book “Horse Soldiers.”

Hemsworth plays Captain Mitch Nelson, who inspires his men to keep fighting. “The only way home is winning,” we hear him say. Another officer says, “The most important thing a man can take into combat is a reason why,” i.e. to avenge the attacks on 9/11.

Directed by newcomer Nicolai Fuglsig, the film also stars Michael Shannon, Navid Negahban, Michael Peña, Trevante Rhodes, Geoff Stults, Thad Luckinbill, Austin Stowell, Ben O’Toole, Austin Hebert, Kenneth Miller, Kenny Sheard, Jack Kesy, Laith Nakli, Fahim Fazli, Yousuf Azami, Said Taghmaoui, Elsa Pataky, William Fichtner and Rob Riggle.
