Chris Brown allegedly punched fellow singer Frank Ocean during an argument over a parking space, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
If Brown did in fact strike Ocean, the singer could be in legal trouble: Brown was sentenced to five years' formal probation for his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna.
The department said early Monday that deputies arrived at a location in West Hollywood after receiving a call that six men were fighting.

A department spokesman told TheWrap that Brown was believed to have hit Ocean, who's songs include "Novacane." Ocean tweeted Sunday night that he "got jumped by Chris and a couple guys," adding that he had sustained an injury.
"Cut my finger now I can't play w two hands at the Grammys," Ocean added. (Ocean is nominated for six Grammys at this year's awards ceremony, which takes place Feb. 10.)

The Sheriff's Department, which is conducting a battery investigation over the alleged altercation, said that Brown, 23, and his entourage left the scene before deputies arrived, but that law enforcement will reach out to the "Don't Judge Me" singer.
"The investigation is ongoing and investigators will contact Chris Brown at a later time," the department said in a release.
A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Probation Department told TheWrap on Monday that, if a person on probation is arrested, a probation violation has occurred, and the violator's probation officer investigates the matter.
The probation officer then submits a report to the court, with a recommendation on whether jail time is warranted or not. A judge will then take the entire case into consideration and enter a ruling, which may or may not involve jail time.
"Ultimately, it's up to the Judge in the case," the probation department spokeswoman said.
Brown was also implicated in a brawl between himself and the entourage of fellow singer Drake — who's also been romantically linked to Rihanna — at New York nightclub W.i.P in June 2012.
A spokeswoman for Brown did not immediately respond to TheWrap's request for comment, and the singer has not referenced the alleged incident on his Twitter account.
