Chloe Grace Moretz takes on alien invaders, apocalyptic disasters and desperate survivors in the new trailer for “The 5th Wave.”
Based on a YA novel by Rick Yancey, the science fiction film reveals the aftermath of an alien invasion by creatures known as “The Others,” who have the ability to take on human form.
Moretz plays Cassie Sullivan, who survives four waves of deadly attacks against the Earth’s population by the shape-shifters. On the run to save her younger brother, 16-year-old Cassie meets a mysterious young man who may become her final hope.
This being a YA movie, Cassie also has to deal with being trapped in a love triangle between two hot heroes.
The movie also stars Ron Livingston and Maggie Siff (as Cassie’s parents), Liev Schreiber, Maika Monroe, Maria Bello, Alex Roe and Nick Robinson.
“We can’t trust anyone any more,” warns Cassie’s father, played by Livingston.
“The Others see our hope as a weakness, they are wrong,” says a more positive Moretz.
GK Films acquired rights to the project back in March 2012 when it purchased a proposal for a young adult trilogy from author Yancey, whose novel was published in May 2013 by Penguin. Sony is co-financing and distributing.
