Dax Shepard and Michael Pena rolled onto the set of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Wednesday night on a pair of Ducatis to unveil the first trailer for their upcoming comedy “CHIPs,” based on the ’70s crime dramedy TV series of the same name.
In the film, Pena plays an FBI agent who is given the alias of Frank “Ponch” Poncherello and sent into the California Highway Patrol to investigate claims that there are crooked cops in the force. He’s partnered with CHP rookie Jon Baker (Shepard), a reckless thrill-seeker who has quickly proven himself to be one of the best motorcycle riders on the force.
Soon they discover that the FBI’s suspicion was correct and ride out to take down the dirty lawman Vic Brown (Vincent D’Onofrio) and his gang of violent carjackers.
“CHIPs” is written, directed, and co-produced by Shepard. Adam Brody and Maya Rudolph co-star in the big-screen adaptation that hits theaters on March 24.
