Dick Wolf shows see modest gains compared to the previous three-hour effort

Law & Order: SVU

So that mega-crossover didn’t work out quite as well as the last one.

NBC finished fourth in the key ratings demo on Wednesday and third in total viewers, airing the final two hours of its monster Wolf Films crossover. “Chicago P.D.” and “Law & Order: SVU” received decent week-to-week gains, but the upticks were far less dramatic than the last time the Dick Wolf procedurals all played together.

A rerun of Tuesday’s “Chicago Fire” served as lead-in to the two originals last night.

ABC finished first in ratings; CBS topped the night in total viewers. In the main demo, CBS’s shows each fell by double digits.

ABC was first in ratings with a 1.9 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, but fourth in total viewers with an average of 6.2 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Middle” at 8 p.m. rose to a 2.0/8 and 7.3 million viewers. “The Goldbergs” at 8:30 posted a 2.1/7 and 6.7 million viewers. “Modern Family” at 9 earned a night-high 2.9/9 and had 7.9 million viewers. “Black-ish” at 9:30 got a 2.0/6 and 6 million viewers. At 10, “Nashville” received a 1.3/4 and 4.8 million viewers.
