The Second City was second-to-none last night in total viewers: NBC drew Wednesday’s most eyeballs in primetime, with its “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med” and “Chicago PD” mega-crossover.
Led by “Empire” and its regular benefit of not nationally programming the comparatively low-rated 10 p.m. hour, Fox finished first among adults 18-49.
Fox was first in ratings with a 1.4 rating/6 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, but third in total viewers with an average of 4.53 million, according to preliminary numbers. “Empire” at 8 landed a 1.5/7 and 5 million viewers. At 9, “Star” had a 1.2/5 and 4 million viewers.
NBC was second in ratings with a 1.2/5 and first in viewers with 8.2 million. “Chicago Fire” at 8 got a 1.3/6 and 8 million viewers. “Chicago Med” at 9 received a 1.3/5 and 8.8 million viewers. The mega-crossover concluded with “Chicago PD” at 10, which posted a 1.2/5 and 7.8 million viewers.
ABC was third in ratings with a 1.1/5 and fourth in viewers with 4.46 million. “The Goldbergs” at 8 had a 1.3/6 and 5.1 million viewers. “American Housewife” at 8:30 got a 1.1/5 and 4.4 million viewers. “Modern Family” at 9 put up a 1.4/6 and 5.3 million viewers. “Single Parents” at 9:30 received a 1.1/5 and 4.3 million viewers. “A Million Little Things” at 10 finished primetime with a 0.8/4 and 3.8 million viewers.
CBS was fourth in ratings with a 1.0/4 and second in viewers with 5.6 million. “Survivor” at 8 earned a 1.5/7 and 7.2 million viewers. At 9, the “SEAL Team” season premiere had a 0.8/3 and 5.1 million viewers. At 10, the “Criminal Minds” season premiere got a 0.7/3 and 4.4 million viewers.
Telemundo and Univision tied for fifth in ratings, both with a 0.4/2. Telemundo was fifth in total viewers with 1.3 million, Univision was sixth with 1.2 million.
The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.1/1 and in viewers with 562,000. The “Burden of Truth” season finale at 8 settled for a 0.1/1 and 700,000 viewers. A rerun followed.
