Chase Carey has signed a two-year contract extension as the president and COO of 21st Century Fox, according to a corporate filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Carey has been in that position since 2009, when he succeeded Peter Chernin.
Fox CEO Rupert Murdoch previously said Carey would succeed him atop the company, but recently has promoted his children to top positions.

Carey first started at Fox in 1988, and in 2003 took over as CEO of DirecTV, which Fox parent News Corp. owned at the time. News Corp. has since split into two companies – the entertainment properties are 21st Century Fox while the publishing assets are News Corp.
