Charlie Sheen Sells Out Shows — With Scalpers’ Help

Tickets for two live shows get snatched up fast

Tickets for the two "Charlie Sheen LIVE: The Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat Is Not an Option" shows have already sold out, and more performances are likely to be announced this week, according to reports.

TMZ.com reports that the beleaguered actor's initial pair of events, set for Detroit on April 2 and Chicago on April 3, disappeared in a record 18 minutes after they went on sale this past Saturday. And E! Online News reports that the tour will soon "be expanded to include as many as 20 to 30 cities."

Maybe there is a method to the actor's madness, after all.

On the other hand — and not to be a buzzkill, considering that Sheen says he is donating $1 for every ticket sold to Red Cross to help the victims of the tsunami in Japan — scalpers appear to have had more than a little to do with the quick sell-out.

As of Monday at 11 A.M., the ticket reseller Stubhub was listing 1,412 seats for the Fox Theatre show as being available, and countless more were up for grabs on Craigslist. The venue lists its seating capacity as being 5,048, which suggests that more than a quarter of the tickets are currently in the hands of resellers.

For the Chicago Theatre performance, 1,243 tickets were available at Stubhub. The venue's seating capacity is listed as being 3,600, meaning that nearly a third of the tickets for the show were already being offered for sale by their purchasers.

Got a spare $19,996 lying around? It'll get you four first-row orchestra seats for the Detroit show.

Regardless, the quick sell-out caused Sheen to hit Twitter to say, "Fastball; Detroit/Chicago sold out in minutes… Thanks to Sheen's Cadre..!  c."

Meanwhile, Alec Baldwin took to the Huffington Post on Friday to tell Sheen: "Beg for America's forgiveness."

Maybe Sheen will do just that — live at a theater near you. And if you believe that, we have a quartet of tickets to sell you for $20,000.
