ABC’s “Supermarket Sweep,” hosted by former “SNL” cast member Leslie Jones, managed to tick up a bit in ratings from last week. While the game show’s actual Nielsen numbers aren’t that impressive, it’s a solid feat considering lead-in “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” declined from the previous Sunday. That dip is a total bummer, by the way, because Melissa Joan Hart won the $1 million grand prize (for charity, of course).
Anyway, it was all kind of irrelevant (to a point) since NFL football aired throughout primetime on NBC. CBS also had football until about 8 p.m. ET.
Due to the nature of live sports, the below Nielsen numbers for NBC and CBS should be considered subject to significant adjustment. Final data should be available later on Monday.
NBC was first in ratings with a 3.2 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 11.6 million, according to preliminary numbers. That all the “Sunday Night Football” game and its “Football Night in America” pre-game show (where it aired in primetime, at least) averages.
Last night’s weekend-ending football game was down quite a bit from last week’s.
CBS was second in ratings with a 1.9 and in total viewers with 10.9 million. Following a highly rated (compared to non-football programming, at least) NFL overrun, “60 Minutes” in the 8 p.m. hour (ET) drew a 1.3 rating and 9.9 million total viewers. At 9 p.m., “The Equalizer” received a 0.7 rating and 6.8 million total viewers. “NCIS: Los Angeles” at 10 had a 0.5 rating and 5 million total viewers.
ABC and Fox tied for third in ratings, both with a 0.4. ABC was third in total viewers with 3.4 million, Fox was fourth with 1.2 million.
For ABC, “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at 7 got a 0.4 rating and 4.2 million total viewers. At 8, “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” mustered up a 0.4 rating and 4.1 million total viewers. “Supermarket Sweep” at 9 had a 0.4 rating and 2.5 million total viewers. “The Rookie” at 10 closed out primetime with a 0.3 rating and 2.7 million total viewers.
For Fox, following repeats, “The Simpsons” at 8 had a 0.5 rating and 1.4 million total viewers. At 8:30, “The Great North” got a 0.4 rating and 1 million total viewers. “Bob’s Burgers” at 9 received a 0.4 rating and 1.2 million total viewers. “Family Guy” at 9:30 closed out Fox’s primetime (Fox and The CW do not nationally program the 10 p.m. hour, CBS, NBC and ABC all do) with a 0.4 rating and 1.3 million total viewers.
The CW was fifth in ratings with a 0.1 and in total viewers with 302,000. “Legends of the Hidden Temple” at 8 had a 0.1 rating and 263,000 total viewers. At 9, “Killer Camp” got a 0.0 rating and 173,000 total viewers.
We do not have early Nielsen numbers for Spanish-language broadcast networks Univision and Telemundo.
