Celebrating ‘Eclipse’ Premiere, Daytime Emmy Nominees

It’s a premiere-a-palooza in downtown L.A. and a pre-Vegas fete in Hollywood

Ashley GreeneAshley Greene saved a fashion publicist from having a heart attack last night at the world premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” at the Nokia – the “centerpiece” of the L.A. Film Festival.

After navigating the 100-strong photo line, Greene (right; photo by Getty Images) realized she had forgotten to actually put on the earrings she had agreed to wear. After an emergency confab with her publicist, they pulled Stephenie Meyer Peter Facinellidangling jewels out of her purse, retreated “back to one” and re-walked the mammoth carpet … again.

“Twilight” creator and mastermind Stephenie Meyer (named by Forbes as the 26th most powerful celebrity in the world last year due to the hit Wyck Godfrey Patrick Wachsberger David Slade Eclipsefranchise) paused on the black carpet with actor Peter Facinelli. (left; photo by Getty Images).

Amidst the star-packed carpet, the “random” awards went to the entire Kardashian clan – never ones to sit out someone else’s press opportunity – and Yankee star Alex Rodriguez, in L.A. for his team's first matchup against former Yankee manager Joe Torre at Dodger Stadium this weekend.

Away from the traffic snarl of the downtown premiere, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences was celebrating its 2010 Daytime Emmy Award nominees. The SLS Hotel hosted the "send-off" reception in advance of Sunday’s telecast from Las Vegas.

Outstanding Young Actor nominee Drew Garrett, who suddenly disappeared from “General Hospital” in April to fans’ dismay, told TheWrap that getting nominated after he was fired was Carolyn Hennesysome consolation. Garrett said after shooting one day, producers simply told him, “That was your last scene.” Ouch.

Garrett’s former co-star and fellow nominee Carolyn Hennesy (for Outstanding Supporting Actress) arrived on the heels of Carnie Wilson and soap vet Michelle Stafford. Hennesy is in the running for an unusual Omid Djalili Paul Reiseraccomplishment. With buzz for her supporting work on her primetime gig – ABC’s “Cougar Town” – Henessy (left; photo by Getty Images) could be the rare actor to be nominated for Daytime and Primetime Emmys in the same year.

On Wednesday night, Rachael Leigh Cook, Peter Gallagher and more hit the Creative Coalition and American Express' Tribeca Film screening of the comedy “The Infidel.” After the film’s sendup of a suddenly confused Muslim who finds out late in life that he was actually born Jewish, the gang retreated to newish restaurant La Vida (the old Pinot) for a Jewish-holiday-themed after-party.
