CBS Unveils Winter Comedy Schedule With No Back-Orders for ‘Murphy Brown,’ ‘Happy Together’

The “Murphy Brown” revival and “Happy Together” won’t receive additional episode orders for their freshman seasons on CBS.

The Candice Bergen-led sitcom’s return this fall was always intended for a 13-episode run, while the new Damon Wayans comedy has not been canceled and is still in contention for the 2019-20 slate, an individual with knowledge of the decision tells TheWrap.

Per the insider, “Happy Together” received no back-order because the broadcaster needs to make room for other new and returning shows (see below).

Meanwhile, CBS has set its winter comedy programming schedule (which is absent “Murphy Brown” and “Happy Together”), with series premiere dates given for “Fam” and the return for Matt LeBlanc’s “Man With a Plan.” Find those two in bold on the Mondays and Thursdays schedule posted below.

“Fam” stars Nina Dobrev and Tone Bell in a comedy about a woman whose vision of a perfect life with her adoring fiancé and his wonderful parents is radically altered when her 16-year-old, out-of-control half-sister unexpectedly comes to live with her, per CBS. As the family Clem (Dobrev) chose and the family she has blend, Clem realizes that this new happy fam may be the perfection she’s always been seeking.

Odessa Adlon, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Sheryl Lee Ralph also star on “Fam.” Corinne Kingsbury, Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling and Dana Honor are executive producers for Kapital Entertainment in association with CBS Television Studios.

Oh, and the season premiere for “Life in Pieces” will have to wait.
