R.J. Cutler has entered a first-look development deal with CBS Television Studios.
Under the deal, the Peabody and Emmy award-winning director-producer will develop scripted television projects for the TV production company.
Cutler is also an executive producer for ABC’s “Nashville,” for which he directed the pilot, and retains a first-look deal at Showtime, for whom he directed “The World According to Dick Cheney.”

“I’m so thrilled to be working with David Stapf, Julie McNamara and all the talented people at CBS Studios,” Cutler said of the deal. “We’ve had such a great time developing material over the past couple of years that it just seemed a natural transition to make CBS Studios my scripted television home. Can’t wait to get started on creating a new series together.”
Cutler is currently in post-production for “If I Stay,” his feature film directorial debut, which stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Jamie Blackley and Mireille Enos.
