CBS Sets February Premiere for ‘Superior Donuts’

Comedy series stars Judd Hirsch and Jermain Fowler

CBS will premiere the new comedy series “Superior Donuts” in February, TheWrap has learned.

The series, which follows the relationship between the gruff owner (Judd Hirsch) of a small donut shop and his enterprising new young employee (Jermaine Fowler) in a quickly gentrifying Chicago neighborhood, will air in special preview on Feb. 2 at 8:30 p.m. ET. It will then move to it’s official time slot on Mondays at 9 p.m. beginning Feb. 6.

Based on the play by Tracy Letts of the same name, the multi-camera comedy also stars Katey Sagal, David Koechner, Maz Jobrani, Anna Baryshnikov, Darien Sills-Evans and Rell Battle. Bob Daily, Neil Goldman, Garrett Donovan, Mark Teitelbaum, John Montgomery, Michael Rotenberg, Josh Lieberman and Jermaine Fowler are the executive producers for CBS Television Studios.

The preview on Feb. 2 will give the sitcom a strong lead in courtesy of “The Big Bang Theory.” Once it moves to Monday, it will be part of a two hour comedy block comprised of fellow freshman shows “Kevin Can Wait” starring Kevin James and “Man With a Plan” starring Matt LeBlanc.

“Two Broke Girls” will shift from it normal Monday 9 p.m. to 9:30 beginning on Feb. 6 following the season finale of “The Odd Couple” on Jan. 30.
