Ratings: CBS Reruns Beat New Shows on NBC, Fox, Specials on ABC

“Two Broke Girls” repeat enjoys embarrassment of ratings riches

CBS has to feel pretty good about its Monday primetime shows right about now: On a night when ratings were down all around, its all-rerun slate, led by "2 Broke Girls," beat original programs on Fox and NBC and ABC's mix of previously aired holidays specials, a new game show and a "Castle" repeat.

"2 Broke Girls," the highest-rated comedy of the new fall season, was the highest-rated show of the night with a 3.3 rating/8 share in the most desired 18-49 demo. It was the second-most watched show overall with 9.1 million total viewers. It aired at 8:30 between reruns of "How I Met Your Mother" and "Two and a Half Men." "Mike and Molly" and "Hawaii 5-0" reruns rounded out the night. The comedies claimed all four of the top ratings spots in the demo — with "Men" the most-watched show overall with 9.7 million total viewers. Overall, CBS was the top-rated and most-watched network overall with a 2.7/7 and 8.5 million total viewers, on average.

Fox was the second-highest-rated network in the demo. "Terra Nova" at 8 had a 2.2/6 in the demo and 7.2 million total viewers, while "House" at 9 had a 2.6/6 and 7.3 million.

ABC was the third highest-rated, with a mix of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "Shrek the Halls," a "Castle" rerun, and one new show, "You Deserve It," which had a 1.4/3, down 18 percent from its debut last week. It had 4.4 million total viewers.

With all-new programming, NBC could still manage only fourth place in the ratings. The finale of "The Sing-Off" from 8-10 had a 1.7/4 and 6.4 million total viewers. "Rock Center with Brian Williams" at 10 had a 1.2/3 and 5 million total viewers.
