CBS Re-Ups ‘How I Met Your Mother’ for Two More Seasons

With “Two and a Half Men” in limbo, network looks to shore up the other key to its Monday-night comedy block

Looks like we'll have to wait a little longer to find out who the "mother" is.

According to numerous published reports, CBS has renwed "How I Met Your Mother" for two more seasons, solidying the future of at least one portion of its Monday-night comedy block.

As for the future of "Two and a Half Men," well …

Averaging over 9.1 million viewers in its sixth season Monday nights at 8 p.m., there was little question as to whether "HIMYM" would be back for season seven. But the season eight commitment adds a little intrigue, given that creator/executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas had been creatively hinting that they were about to introduce (reveal?) Ted Mosby's (Josh Radnor) lifelong love interest.

It's been stated since the beginning of the 20th Century Fox Studios-produced show that the character would be introduced once the series started winding down.
