As “Castle” wraps up its eighth season and heads into an uncertain future, star Toks Olagundoye sat down to discuss her new role on the series in the latest episode of TheWrap’s Drinking With the Stars.
“Hayley is a bit of a badass,” Olagundoye told TheWrap’s Stuart Brazell. “Every episode comes in, there’s something else I learn that she can do. She can do everything.”
Olagundoye joined the long-running ABC procedural starring Nathan Fillion this season, playing a former Scotland Yard officer and MI-6 agent who joined the team for the latest season. “She’s always been a bit detached from people, and she finally found people that she wants to kind of stick around and help protect,” Olagundoye revealed.
The actress said that though it can be intimidating to join a show that’s already established, she actually prefers to slip into a cast that’s already been working together for a while.
“When you go in as a guest star, you don’t really know what you’re doing and you have to do it so quick and then it’s over,” she said. “And when you go into a pilot, no one knows what’s going on and everyone’s really neurotic.
“So it is kind of better to like go into a long-term situation where everyone already knows each other and you get a chance to like figure things out and watch what they’re doing and follow suit,” she explained.
Olagundoye also teased the final two episodes of the season, which is set to conclude on May 16. According to the actress, the penultimate episode is a “creepy” one. And as for next week’s season finale, Olagundoye didn’t say much, but promised it would be one to remember.
“There’s a lot going on,” she said. “That I do know.”
“Castle” airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on ABC.
