Fresh from the creation of a long-awaited Casting Directors Branch of the Academy, the Casting Society of America has announced the nominations for its 29th annual Artios Awards, which honor achievement in casting in 22 different film, television and theater categories.
The nominees range from award-winning movies like “Argo,” “Life of Pi” and “Silver Linings Playbook” to the largely ignored likes of “Oz the Great and Powerful,” “Pain & Gain” and “Pitch Perfect.”
On the television side, nominees included “The Americans,” “Bates Motel,” “30 Rock,” “Modern Family,” “Game of Thrones” and “House of Cards.”

One interesting sidelight: Though "Silver Linings Playbook" qualified for the Film Independent Spirit Awards because of its (relatively) low budget, it was nominated by the casting directors in the Big Budget Feature-Comedy category.
