Cassian Elwes, Ike Suri Launch Golden Gate Media to Produce Up to 5 Movies a Year

Each project will be budgeted between $2 million and $5 million

Pelican Point Capital Partners’ media arm Pelican Point Media has announced the formation of Golden Gate Media in conjunction with prolific Hollywood producer Cassian Elwes (“Dallas Buyers Club”), who will serve as co-CEO of the company along with Ike Suri.

Suri is currently the co-founder and co-CEO of Pelican Point Capital Partners, a merchant bank engaged in investment activities in numerous sectors.

Golden Gate will focus on producing and financing independent films with budgets between $2 million and $15 million, and aims to produce 2-5 films per year.

The efforts of the company will leverage Elwes’ ability to originate, package, and generate films coupled with the investment, entrepreneurial and financial strengths of Pelican. Suri and Elwes have assembled a slate of several films they are looking to co-produce via their combined goals under this new brand.

In recent years, Elwes (pictured above) has generated award-winning films such as “Dallas Buyers Club,” “All Is Lost” and “Lee Daniels‘ The Butler.” As the head of William Morris Independent, he arranged financing for over 250 films including multiple Oscar winners.

“The opportunity to partner with Cassian on top quality content and to attract the best and most capable talent to our projects was so compelling in the films we have pursued to date that Golden Gate was the next step in our relationship,” said Suri.

“Working with Ike and his team has been an absolute pleasure and I look forward to our continued success,” added Elwes, who recently teamed with Suri to co-produce and co-finance a reboot of “Cabin Fever,” which boasts original director Eli Roth as an executive producer.
