Disney-Pixar released the first trailer of “Cars 3” on Monday, and it has everyone in their feelings.
The trailer starts off innocently enough, with flashing scenes of a bunch of race cars on a track whizzing by, but the sounds of a dramatic heartbeat in the background easily gives the feeling of a looming threat.
All of a sudden, we see the famous Lightning McQueen make his way to the front of the pack, seemingly about to win the race, but the car begins to lose control. The screen turns dark, and we hear metal against metal — a car crash.
The next time we see McQueen’s shiny red car, it’s smoking and flying through the air along with debris.
The only consolation (if you can call it that) we receive about McQueen’s well-being is a few words on the screen: “From this moment everything will change.”
The film’s dark turn had a few people (Tim Urban) feeling emotionally unstable.
Cars 3 trailer has me emotionally on pause. How I view the world may be changed forever.
