You may have just seen Princess Leia or Gen. Organa (depending on your generation), float through space in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” but Carrie Fisher died a year ago today.
On Wednesday, Fisher’s friends, family and fans marked the anniversary of Fisher’s death with tributes to the actress. Among those were Mark Hamill, her close friend and “Star Wars” co-star, who tweeted a touching tribute to his on-screen sister.
“No one’s ever really gone… #AlwaysWithUs #CarrieOnForever,” he wrote, alongside a photo collage of Fisher pictures and fan art. Hamill included the hashtags #AlwaysWithUs and #CarrieOnForever, which other fans have used while posting their own tributes.

The Princess left us too soon was it was good to see her shine one more time in #TheLastJedi

It’s been a year since we lost Carrie Fisher. My resolution for 2018 is to put into better practice everything she taught – the wisdom to own yourself, flaws and all, and to give as few fucks as possible pic.twitter.com/1eA6BaRzUY

The General? To me, she’s royalty.
Can’t believe it’s been a year already.
