Carrie Coon is laughing off speculation that she and husband Tracy Letts are in an open marriage.
On Monday’s episode of “WTF with Marc Maron,” Coon – who is starring in Season 3 of “The White Lotus” – opened up about her and her husband’s philosophy when it came to marriage, honesty and monogamy.
“That’s the nice thing about a marriage where everything’s on the table: you talk about everything,” she said. “We are not jealous people. Like, we do not have any of those hang-ups. So we never wanna be like, the police. You know? So it’s nice to be in a relationship where we can always talk about, like, ‘Who are you attracted to on set?’”
She continued, “It’s so fun. I love it. Tracy’s the kind of person who notices every single woman on the street … And he always tells me who he has a crush on. It’s fun. It’s interesting to know what your partner’s into. I think it’s titillating.”
Maron asked her if things ever crossed a line and Coon emphasized her and Letts did not really have one because “lines are really boring.”
“Monogamy is something we have imposed on ourselves. We were supposed to have babies and die when we were like 30. And that’s not the way life is anymore,” she finished. “So I think you have to stay … you have to kind of be open-minded about what engages you in the world and what sparks your imagination and where your passion is. And I think if you are willing to stay open to that, then you are living a more full life. And I do not think either one of us would want to keep the other from living.”
Naturally, the conversation led to speculation on social media about the couple being in an open relationship. Hours after the podcast dropped, the “White Lotus” actress took to her own social media profile to clarify and calm the masses.
“Settle down, internet!” Coon wrote. “I said ‘open-minded’ not ‘open.’”
