Michael Haneke's Cannes Palme d'Or winner "Amour" (below), Roger Michell's FDR film "Hyde Park on Hudson" and Noah Baumbach's "Frances Ha" are among the films screening at this year's New York Film Festival, the Film Society of Lincoln Center announced on Thursday.
The 32 films that will make up the festival's main slate also include Brian De Palma's "Passion," Leos Carax's "Holy Motors" and Sally Potter's "Ginger and Rosa."
The NYFF previously announced its opening-night selection, "Life of Pi," its closing night film, "Flight," and its centerpiece gala, "Not Fade Away."
Many of the new additions have screened at previous festivals, with a healthy group of Cannes titles that also includes Abbas Kiarostami's "Like Someone in Love," Pablo Larrain's "No," Cristian Mungiu's "Beyond the Hills" and Alain Resnais' "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet."
The one newly-announced world premiere, which joins premieres "Life of Pi," "Flight" and "Not Fade Away," is Alan Berliner's "First Cousin Once Removed."
“The films making up the main slate of this year's NYFF, have in common a general quality of fearlessness that unites otherwise very disparate works," said selection committee chair Richard Pena in a release announcing the selections. "These are films that go all the way, works willing to take the risk or chance that by doing so they may be bringing audiences to places they might rather not go.”
Additional progamming will be announced in the coming weeks. The festival, NYFF's 50th, will open on Sept. 28 and run through Oct. 14.
