Cannes 2012: Film Movement Acquires Israeli Thriller ‘Room 514’

Sharon Bar-Ziv's interrogation drama "Room 514" won a special jury mention at Tribeca; Film Movement plans late 2012 release

Film Movement has acquired North American rights to the Israeli thriller "Room 514," which is screening in the ACID program at Cannes.

Room 514The film is the directorial debut of Sharon Bar-Ziv. It was shot almost entirely in one room, and centers on the interrogation of an Israeli officer by a female soldier. Bar-Ziv recently received on a special jury mention in the Best New Narrative Director category at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Film Movement plans a fourth-quarter 2012 theatrical release in New York City, followed by a limited national rollout and a day-and-date Video on Demand release.

The acquisition was negotiated by Film Movement president Adley Gartenstein and by Daniela Elster of Doc & Film.
