“Army Wives” alum Joseph Julian Soria has joined the cast of MGM’s family adventure film “Max,” which Boaz Yakin is directing from a script he co-wrote with Sheldon Lettich, TheWrap has learned.
Story follows a military dog left traumatized by his handler’s death in Afghanistan. Adopted by the soldier’s bereaved family, the dog bonds with the soldier’s troubled 14-year-old brother (Josh Wiggins, “Hellion”), and together they begin to heal one another.

Soria will play Emilio, a tough gangster who crosses path with the titular animal.
Karen Rosenfelt and Ken Blancato are producing the film, which co-stars Thomas Haden Church, Jay Hernandez and Lauren Graham.

Soria is a veteran TV actor whose feature credits include “Fast & Furious,” “Hamlet 2,” “Crank: High Voltage” and “Filly Brown” He most recently co-starred alongside Kristen Stewart in “Camp X-Ray,” which IFC Films acquired out of Sundance. He’s repped by Defining Artists Agency and David Dean Management.
