Calista Flockhart is back in business on CBS’s “Supergirl” pilot.
She’s set to star in the potential series regular role of Cat Grant, employer of Kara, a.k.a. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist).
Cat is described as a self-made media magnate and founder of CatCo. She started her career as a reporter and has built her company into a global powerhouse. Kara (Melissa Benoist) works as her assistant.
In adition to Benoist, Flockhart joins the pilot’s growing cast, which also includes “Nashville’s” Laura Benanti and “Necessary Roughness” star Mehcad Brooks.
Flockhart is best known for playing the titular quirky attorney on Fox’s “Ally McBeal” from 1997-2002. Her next big role would be as feisty republican Kitty Walker in the ABC family drama, “Brothers & Sisters.” She has also appeared on Showtime’s “Web Therapy,” and DirecTV’s “Full Circle.”
Executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Sarah Schecter, “Supergirl” revolves around Kara Zor-El (Benoist), who escaped Krypton amid its destruction years ago, and has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman, since arriving on Earth. But now, at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was always meant to be.
