CAA Partner and Managing Director Kevin Huvane will be honored Tuesday by Communities In Schools Los Angeles.
The group, which provides local support for public schools to improve education and increase graduation rates, honors Huvane after 10 years sitting on the CIS National Board of Directors.
Huvane, along with his Hollywood agency’s eponymous foundation, has been a “tireless advocate” for the group, a CIS spokesperson said.
The group applauded the power agent for “using his position to encourage the storytellers of our time to use their voices and help focus resources in support of youth, women and those impacted by HIV/AIDS.”
CISLA began in 2007, serving 4,000 students annually in two West Los Angeles high schools — and has increased outreach to 11,000 students at 10 partner middle and high schools within the school district. The group estimates graduation rates at each high school have risen by an average of 31 percent.
The event will also honor CISLA Program Director Gaudencio Marquez and Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.
Huvane’s personal roster at CAA includes Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Vin Diesel and Jennifer Aniston.
