Bumble Ward in Talks to Fly to Fox

The former personal publicist would replace Carol Sewell, who left the studio in May

Fox is in talks with Bumble Ward, the personal publicist-turned-writer, to head its national publicity department, TheWrap has confirmed.

If things work out, she'll get the job held by Carol Sewell, who was executive vice president, publicity and field marketing, before she left Fox in May.

An individual close to the negotiations told TheWrap that the details — including the job title — still are being worked out.

Ward would report to co-president of domestic marketing and chief marketing officer Oren Aviv and co-president of domestic marketing and chief creative officer Tony Sella.

From 1994 to 2005, she ran Bumble Ward & Associates, an entertainment public relations, marketing and communications firm in New York and Los Angeles that employed a dozen people and represented more than 40 directors, including Quentin Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson, Antoine Fuqua, Tony Scott, Jay Roach and Bobby and Peter Farrelly.

She shut her publicity operation about five years ago to concentrate on writing.

In her "Miss Whistle" blog, which she launched in 2003, the former BAFTA L.A. board member and secretary has written about just about everything — politics, art, architecture, food … you name it.

She also has spent the past few years advising clients on public relations and social media marketing strategy.

Deadline first reported the news.
