Bryan Singer to Direct Vince Gilligan’s CBS Drama ‘Battle Creek’

“Breaking Bad” creator’s show has a 13-episode order from the network

Bryan Singer is set to direct the pilot of Vince Gilligan’s “Battle Creek.”

“Battle Creek,” a Sony Pictures Television, CBS Television Studios drama about two detectives in Battle Creek, Mich., has a 13-episode order from CBS.

The cops have very different world views: one uses cynicism, guile and deception in the face of a complete lack of resources to clean up the semi-mean streets. The other relies on naïveté trust and a boatload of resources to get the job done.

Gilligan, the creator of “Breaking Bad,” also created “Battle Creek,” which he will serve on as writer and executive producer. Singer will also executive produce; David Shore is showrunner. Mark Johnson will exec produce.

The cast includes Dean Winters as “Russ,”  Kal Penn as “Detective Fontanelle” (aka “Font”),  Janet McTeer as “Commander Guziewicz,” Edward Fordham Jr. as “Detective Aaron Funkhauser” and Aubrey Dollar as “Holly.”
