"Pushing Daisies" creator Bryan Fuller has been hired to write a live-action "Pinocchio" movie for Warner Bros. and producer Dan Jinks, the studio has confirmed to TheWrap.
The beloved long-nosed character was first introduced to movie audiences by Walt Disney in 1940. He was last seen on the big screen in a 2002 adaptation directed by and starring Roberto Benigni.
While most people will wonder who will play the fib-telling little boy, I'm wondering which Hollywood star will be cast as Jiminy Cricket. After all, Julia Roberts played Tinkerbell in Steven Spielberg's "Hook."
Nick Nantell, the VP of development at Jinks' eponymous production company, will be involved in a producing capacity on the project, which was inspired by the astounding success Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland."
Jinks set up the Dan Jinks Co. earlier this year after he and former producing partner Bruce Cohen amicably dissolved their Jinks/Cohen production banner in February. The duo are still working together on TV projects through a WB-based deal.
Sarah Schechter will oversee the project for the studio.
