Bruce Willis‘ latest indie movie “Wake” has halted production after little more than one week due to issues with its financing, TheWrap has learned.
John Pogue is directing “Wake,” which had been shooting in the dead of winter in Cleveland, Ohio when the funding dried up.
A representative for production company Benaroya Pictures issued the following statement to TheWrap — “Benaroya Pictures is working quickly to remedy the delay in production on the feature film ‘Wake,’ and we are optimistic we will resume principal photography in approximately 2-3 weeks.”
Willis has already shot several scenes as a sociopath who battles a team of mercenaries on a remote island following his brother’s wake. Oscar winners Ben Kingsley and Ellen Burstyn co-star in the thriller along with Piper Perabo.
Christopher Borrelli and Matthew Sand wrote the film, which is being produced by Michael Benaroya, Tobin Armbrurt, David Alpert and Chris Cowles. Frank Hildebrand serves as the executive producer.
Production started Feb. 16 and was scheduled to run through mid-April. The filmmakers have already received the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit. International Film Trust handled international sales in Berlin at the EFM earlier this month.
