Comedy Central must really be counting on Brian Regan’s clean reputation, because the Viacom cable channel has chosen his Radio City Music Hall show to be its first live stand-up special in network history.
The idea was actually Regan’s, the network said — the highly respected comic wanted to do something unique for his third hour-long stand-up special, which will begin at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26.
For those with plans that night, “Brian Regan: Live From Radio City Music Hall” will also be available on Sept. 27 on the Comedy Central App. The special will be available for download on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Xbox Video, Sony Entertainment Network, Vudu, Verizon Flexview and Google Play and on CC: Stand-Up Direct on Oct. 2. The digital album will be available later this year on iTunes, Amazon MP3, Google Play, Spotify and all streaming services and the physical album and DVD will be available early next year.
Regan was a regular on David Letterman‘s “Late Show,” and tours to about 100 cities each year. Regan’s previous Comedy Central specials “The Epitome of Hyperbole” (2008), and “Brian Regan Standing Up” (2007) are available on DVD.
The comic is the perfect choice for the TV event, as Regan tends to stay away from profanity and off-color humor — and he manages to remain hilarious without the crutch.
The show is being produced and directed by Troy Miller via Dakota Pictures.
