Bret Michaels once sang: "Every cowboy sings a sad, sad song."
That may be true, but Michaels is probably singing a happy tune now that he's back from a major health scare with concert gigs and a new reality show coming out on VH1.
"Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It" will premiere Oct. 18 on VH1, the network announced Thursday. The show follows Michaels' life in the period immediately before and after he suffered a stroke and brain hemorrhage in May, following an emergency appendix surgery in the previous month.
The show prominently features Michaels' two young daughters, Georgia and Raine, as well as their mother, Kristi Gibson.
Michaels and Gibson have maintained an on-again-off-again relationship since 1993. They were apparently going through an "off" phase from 2007-2009 when Michaels had over 50 women compete to be his girlfriend during three seasons of VH1's "Rock of Love."
"Life as I Know It" is created and executive produced by Bret Michaels, Mark Cronin and Cris Abrego for 51 Minds Entertainment, LLC., which is an Endemol Company.
Michaels is also back on tour after missing several concerts during his health scare. He is scheduled to perform tonight at SeaWorld in San Antonio. The SeaWorld show was originally supposed to happen in April, but it was canceled due to Michaels' appendectomy.
