Skyler White haters are going to want to avoid Fox’s event series, “Gracepoint.” Same for whoever could possibly dislike Jacki Weaver.
Emmy Award winner Anna Gunn (“Breaking Bad”) and two-time Academy Award nominee Weaver (“Silver Linings Playbook”) have been cast in the crime show, playing the roles of Detective Ellie Miller and Susan Wright, respectively.
Dan Futterman (Academy Award nominated for “Capote”) and Anya Epstein (“In Treatment”) have signed on as executive producers and showrunners for the Fox series. Chris Chibnall (“Dr. Who”), who created the series, is also counted among the exec producers. He will pen the premiere episode.

In the show, Miller (Gunn) is a police detective in the sleepy seaside town of Gracepoint, where the happily married wife and mother is looking forward to a promised promotion. But when the job goes to outsider Det. Emmett Carver (David Tennant), Ellie is disgruntled. Her disappointment quickly fades in light of tragedy, and she must work her very first murder case with her prickly new partner. As the case progresses, she’ll have to look at her hometown, and those she cares about, through a different prism.
Wright (Weaver) is a glowering, mysterious woman who is new to town. She lives alone (unless you count her dog) in the Gracepoint RV park and works various cleaning and odd jobs. Wright prefers to remain anonymous, and has a dark history kept fiercely hidden.

The Fox show is produced in partnership with Shine America in association with Kudos and Imaginary Friends. Carolyn Bernstein (“The Bridge”) and Jane Featherstone (“The Hour”) are listed as executive producers as well. The series will be distributed by Shine International.
“Gracepoint” — formerly known as “Broadchurch” — is scheduled to begin filming in January for broadcast during the 2014-2015 season.
Gunn is repped by UTA and The Schiff Company and Weaver by ICM Partners, Elevate Entertainment and Felker Toczek Gellman Suddleson, LLP.
