The Writers Guild of America released its nominees for the 2013 Writers Guild Awards Thursday, releasing a list that included "Breaking Bad," "Homeland" and "Girls."
"Game of Thrones," "Parks and Recreation" and "30 Rock" were also among the lengthy list of nominees in the Television, News, Radio, Promotional Writing and Graphic Animation categories.

AMC's "Breaking Bad" is nominated in the Drama Series category, where it shares space with fellow nominees "Boardwalk Empire," "Game of Thrones," "Homeland" and "Mad Men." The series also has four entries in the Episodic Drama category, for the episodes "Buyout," "Dead Freight," "Fifty-One" and "Say My Name."
In addition to its nod in the Drama Series category, "Homeland" is up for an award for the episode "New Car Smell."
On the comedy end, "30 Rock," "Girls" (which is also nominated in the Best New Series category), "Louie," "Modern Family" and "Parks and Recreation" will vie for the Comedy Series win. In the Episodic Comedy category, "Modern Family" dominates, with nods for "Little Bo Bleep," "Mistery Date" and "Virgin Territory."
In the New Series category, HBO has an impressive presence, holding three of the five nominee slots with "Girls," "The Newsroom" and "Veep."
Writers Guild Award winners will be honored at the 2013 Writers Guild Awards on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York.
