‘The Borgias’ Star Holliday Grainger Joins Disney’s ‘Cinderella’ (Exclusive)

Kenneth Branagh is directing the live-action adaptation of the beloved fairy tale

"The Borgias" star Holliday Grainger is joining the cast of Disney and director Kenneth Branagh's live-action adaptation of "Cinderella," TheWrap has learned.

Lily James ("Downton Abbey") stars as the orphaned title character, while Richard Madden ("Game of Thrones") plays her handsome prince. Oscar winner Cate Blanchett co-stars as her wicked stepmother.

Grainger is no stranger to well-known love stories, having previously appeared in Cary Fukunaga's "Jane Eyre," Joe Wright's "Anna Karenina" and Mike Newell's "Great Expectations," in which she played the female lead.

The 25 year-old British actress is making a deal to play one of Cinderella's beautiful but mean stepsisters who constantly ridicules the protagonist.

Allison Shearmur, David Barron and Simon Kinberg are producing “Cinderella” for Disney.

Grainger, who played Jeremy Irons' daughter Lucrezia Borgia on Showtime's "The Borgias," recently co-starred alongside Robert Pattinson in "Bel Ami." She's repped by IFA Talent Agency and Troika.
