Bobcat Goldthwait Named President of 20th Oldenburg Film Festival Jury

The comedian with the high-pitched voice has become a respected film and TV director

Bobcat Goldthwait was named President of the next month's 20th Oldenburg Film Festival jury on Friday.

Goldthwait, who started his career as a stand-up comic and became an actor ("Police Academy"), transitioned to the director of films such as "Windy City Heat" and "World's Greatest Dad" (starring Robin Williams), as well as TV shows including "Chappelle's Show" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

A tribute to his work, including a screener of his 2006 film "Sleeping Dogs Lie," will be shown at the festival.

In the role, Goldthwait will help select Oldenburg's top German Independence Award. Other jury members include production lawyer Ken Meyer ("Magic Mike"), director Douglas Buck, Premium Films distribution executive Kasia Karwan and singer My-Yung Park.

The festival kicks off Sept. 11 and closes Sept. 15.
