Bobbi Kristina Brown and Nick Gordon‘s friend Max Lomas has provided disturbing details into the couple’s self-destructive lifestyle in a new interview with People.
“We were all pretty bad into drugs,” Lomas told the magazine about his, Brown and Gordon’s life living together in Roswell, Georgia, during the period after Whitney Houston‘s death and leading up to when Bobbi Kristina was found unconscious in a bathtub on Jan. 31, 2015.
Lomas, now 27, had been taken in by the Grammy-winning singer as a troubled teenager and even actually dated Bobbi Kristina until he landed in jail in 2011 on a probation violation.
He was still behind bars when Whitney Houston herself was found submerged and unresponsive in a bathtub on Feb. 11, 2012, and died soon after.
Soon after his release, Gordon began dating Brown, whose father was singer Bobby Brown. However, Lomas described the Bobbi Kristina’s relationship with Gordon as “bipolar.” “[They had] extreme highs and lows and would fight, mostly about jealousy,” Lomas said.
Ironically, two weeks before Bobbi Kristina was found in the coma in which she would remain until her death on July 26, the trio decided to get clean.
“We all decided that we were going to get off drugs, live healthier lifestyles. We all went to the gym together,” Lomas told People. “But it didn’t work out. We started using again.”
An autopsy released in March concluded that Bobbi Kristina died of Lobar pneumonia, which was the result of brain damage due to oxygen loss from water immersion and “mixed drug intoxication,” according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s report.
The report stated that she had marijuana, alcohol, benzoylecgonine (a cocaine-related substance), benzodiazepines (medications used to treat anxiety) and morphine in her system when she was discovered by Lomas.
