"Blue Valentine" director Derek Cianfrance is developing a body-building comedy for HBO, the network confirms.
The single-camera comedy "Muscle" is based on Sam Fussell's memoir "Muscle: Confessions of an Unlikely Bodybuilder," about Fussell's four years as a full-time bodybuilder after he graduated from Oxford.
Cianfrance and Fussell will co-write the script and Cianfrance will direct the pilot.
The two will co-executive produce, and "Blue Valentine" producer Jamie Patricof will executive produce with John Lesher and Adam Kassan.
