Ahead of his wedding to Lauren Sánchez, Jeff Bezos is actually sending her clean off the planet with a Blue Origin flight made up entirely of women — and some pretty famous women, at that.
The next flight to space for the Amazon CEO’s rocket will have Katy Perry, Gayle King, Bezos’ own fiancée and more onboard.
The news came early Thursday, as CBS revealed that their “CBS Mornings” host King would be joining the voyage, set to launch this Spring. Alongside King will be pop star Katy Perry, journalist and businesswoman Lauren Sánchez, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn.
Marking the 11th human flight for the New Shepard rocket program, the journey takes passengers 62 miles above earth. It reaches the Kármán line, which is recognized as the point separating the planet’s atmosphere from space, and then returns home.
Previous celebrity passengers have included William Shatner — who openly mocked the rocket at the time his journey was announced — Michael Strahan and Bezos himself.
Back in 2021, the Blue Origin craft became the subject of online ridicule, as people couldn’t help but notice a resemblance between the aircraft and a certain scene from “Austin Powers.”
An exact date for the historic, all-female flight with King and Perry has not yet been announced.
