Apparently, Black Girls do Rock, according to the ratings numbers for BET’s Sunday broadcast.
“Black Girls Rock!,” the fourth annual event honoring positive role models for African-American girls, celebrated its fourth year with a 25 percent increase in ratings in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. More than 2.7 million viewers tuned in on Sunday.

Beyond the classic ratings measurements, online interaction saw a strong boost as well. BET.com users consumed 81 percent more page views year over year, with videos seeing an even larger increase. Viewers watched 119 percent more video content associated with the program.
The telecast’s official hashtag, #BlackGirlsRock, trended for more than an hour and peaked at No. 1 in the United States on Twitter.
The honoring event, hosted for the third year in a row by Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King, featured performances by Patti LaBelle, Jennifer Hudson, Kelli Rowland, Eve and Janelle Monae.
