ABC’s “Dirty Dancing” remake has added another face to its cast.
“Star Wars” star Billy Dee Williams has been added as Tito, the charismatic bandleader played by Charles ‘Honi’ Coles in the 1987 romantic drama. Tito oversees and advises the resort’s musicians and entertainers, and must acquiesce to the changing times.
Produced by Lionsgate Television in association with Allison Shearmur Productions, the three-hour TV movie will star “Scream Queens’” Abigail Breslin and newcomer Colt Prattes.
“Mysteries of Laura” star Debra Messing, “Modern Family’s” Sarah Hyland and former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger will co-star.
The remake is executive produced by Allison Shearmur and Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote the screenplay for the original movie, with music from Adam Anders and Peer Astrom. Judy Cairo will also serve as producer.
Jessica Sharzer wrote the adaptation for “Dirty Dancing” and Wayne Blair will direct. Choreography is by Andy Blankenbuehler (“Hamilton”), and Steven Altman serves as production designer.
