Ratings: ABC’s Billboard Music Awards Tops Rest of Big 4 Competition Combined

More accurate numbers for live awards show should be out shortly

ABC scored with the Billboard Music Awards last night, topping the rest of its Big 4 competition combined in the key 18-49 demographic.

Per very preliminary numbers, which are not time-zone-adjusted, ABC earned a 2.5 rating/9 share and 8 million total viewers. The Disney broadcaster’s numbers may rise when final fast nationals are out within an hour or so — we’ll see soon enough.

Fox was runner-up Sunday in the main demo (with a 0.9/3), but all the way down in fifth per overall audience members (2 million).

At 7 p.m., ABC’s “America’s Funniest Home Videos” season finale posted a 1.2/5 and 5.4 million viewers. The BBMAs did the rest, comfortably placing the home network atop both main Nielsen metrics.

For Fox, the “Bordertown” finale at 7 had a 0.5/2 and 1.2 million viewers. Following a rerun, the “Simpsons” season finale got a 1.0/4 and 2.5 million viewers. At 8:30, “Bob’s Burgers” received a 1.0/3 and 2.2 million viewers. The “Family Guy” season finale at 9 landed a 1.2/4 and 2.6 million viewers. At 9:30, the “Bob’s” season finale put up a 0.9/3 and 2.1 million viewers.

CBS and Univision was third in ratings, both with a 0.8/3. CBS was second in total viewers with 5.9 million, Univision was fourth with 2.3 million.

For CBS, “60 Minutes” at 7 had a 0.8/3 and 8.1 million viewers. At 8, a second hour got a 0.8/3 and 6.9 million viewers. “Undercover Boss” at 9 posted a 0.8/2 and 4.8 million viewers. At 10, a second hour of that show received a 0.7/2 and 3.9 million viewers.

NBC was fifth in ratings with a 0.6/2, but third in viewers with 3.6 million. At 7, “Dateline: On Assignment” had a 0.6/2 and 3.7 million viewers. Following a repeat, “The Carmichael Show” at 9 got a 0.5/1 and 2.7 million viewers. At 9:30, the “Crowded” finale managed a 0.4/1 and 2.1 million viewers. “Dateline NBC” at 10 received a 0.7/2 and 3.8 million viewers.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.5/2 and in viewers with 1.2 million.
