HBO has announced the title and premiere date of its long-gestating Bill Simmons talk show.
“Any Given Wednesday” will premiere on June 22 and cover sports and pop culture on a weekly basis.
“Bill Simmons represents a unique and distinct voice with a proven track record of challenging the norm and igniting debate and discussion on a wide range of topics,” said HBO President of Programming Michael Lombardo in a statement. “We are excited about the concept Bill and his team have developed for this show, which takes advantage of Bill’s intelligence, talent and insights.”
The half-hour talk show will feature interview segments with guests, as well as field segments and Simmons’ commentary on current events.
“I’m excited about the show, I’m excited about the title and I’m really, really excited to drop my first F-bomb on TV,” the host said. “We are going to figure out nudity down the road, as long as it’s tasteful.”
Simmons will be joined by “Daily Show” alum Stuart Miller and Bill Simmons Media Group President Eric Weinberger as executive producers.
“Any Given Wednesday” premieres Wednesday, June 22, at 10 p.m. ET on HBO.
