Bill O’Reilly addressed Donald Trump’s latest round of attacks on Megyn Kelly and Fox News on Tuesday.

“The debate issue should be buried,” O’Reilly said at the end of his program. “It’s over, folks can make up their own minds about it.”

O’Reilly then praised Fox News chairman Roger Ailes for standing up for Kelly. “Roger’s a loyal guy, and as the general here, he protects his troops,” the host said. “Roger Ailes has defended me countless times against unfair assaults by vicious media people.”

The highest-rated Fox News host conceded that the Kelly-Trump story is relevant to him because he’s “friends with both of them.”

“They both bring things to America that are worthy and positive,” he continued. “Miss Megyn has taken the high road by not responding; Donald Trump should cease, and Roger Ailes is a stand-up guy.”

Kelly led her Fox News program on Tuesday directly after O’Reilly’s comments, covering Trump’s altercation with Univision anchor Jorge Ramos at his press conference in Iowa. She made no mention of Trump’s criticisms aimed at her on Monday.
