Bill Maher is on a mission, and he’s asked for Chelsea Handler’s assistance. “Let’s get Bill O’Reilly laid; let’s try to reach out to the other side,” he joked on Friday night’s “Real Time.”
O’Reilly has been in the center of a media firestorm in recent days, as Fox News ponied up $13 million to settle five sexual harassment settlements against the TV host, who has denied all allegations. That was fuel for Maher’s fire.
“Do you have any girlfriends?” Maher asked Handler. “He’s a very successful man, certainly somebody out there wants to f— Bill O’Reilly. Let’s get Bill O’Reilly laid. Let’s try to reach out to the other side.”
Handler played along, noting Fox News’ other disgraced big wig, former CEO Roger Ailes, who stepped down after he was accused of sexual harassment by Gretchen Carlson. A number of other women followed suit and stepped forward with similar allegations.
“That is very friendly of you,” Handler told Maher. “But if you think about it, if you had to choose between [O’Reilly] and Roger Ailes… I mean, those are the two people you have to choose from. It’s like, who would you rather? It’s really a s— show.”
Handler didn’t reserve her wisecracks for O’Reilly. She also got in a jab at Ivanka Trump (“Ivanka has sent a powerful message to women: If you show dedication… you can get a job as your dad’s unpaid assistant.”) and Trump’s “Southern White House” (“Doesn’t Mar-a-Lago sound like one of those water parks that was closed down because somebody swam in the pool with an STD?”).
